How to convert Information into Knowledge?

Knowledge travels from heart-to-heart. Memorisation for the sole purpose of transferring it to a future generation. If you impress on the memory, a piece of information. And you learn it by rote or any other technique and If it clings on to you and helps you at a time of need. Then you have experienced the benefit of knowledge. It can be an acquisition through experience or education. A theory or a practical understanding.

What is information?

It is a crude form of knowledge. Info. is more, and knowing is its condensed variation. The sages or the wisest people in the world are knowledgeable. Which, is true.

Now, we take a detailed philosophical and metaphysical view of knowledge:

Where, can we find knowledge & wisdom in all this information? How to burst the information bubble to extract the pearls of wisdom?

In today’s world, Research can convert a simple piece of information. And Transform it into an authentic and reliable resource. Although, knowledge is an extensive and a far greater term. But let us assume, that we rely on citations and referencing to get some part of learning. And solve some problems that we glue ourselves to.

Any information that has an emotional appeal to it, is something that the writer wants you to add. Especially, to your arsenal of information. It has the potential to convert into knowledge at a later date. And once you have the other missing piece of information with you.

This emotional appeal may endorse an experience that is unique to the writer. And an amalgamate of all this can convert it up to a certain extent. To me, Knowledge is a precipitate from an otherwise overflow of information. You might need it to survive in this world.

Two Quotes:

“Read in the name of your Lord who created….”

“Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to get it.”

And this quote aligns knowledge to power. Furthermore, Two people are not the same. Especially, the ones who know, and enjoy an elevated position.

One way is to design a mechanism through which, you filter out the information. And another instrument or operation is to convert it to knowledge.

For instance, with practice, you may become proficient in understanding the essence. That of a story, or a written piece. That nucleus of a learning is knowledge.

Moreover, everything else that you skim, scan and proofread is information. Information is everywhere. To this point, You read 400 words of pure information. You also traveled with me, by accompanying me to my next logical thought that converts to writing. Hoping to find a single piece of info., that may add value. Or to learn a new method to solve a mundane problem. Or to look at it in divergence.

I leave you with the 6 types of Knowledge:

  1. A Priori. …
  2. A Posteriori. …
  3. Explicit Knowledge. …
  4. Tacit Knowledge. …
  5. Propositional Knowledge (also Descriptive or Declarative Knowledge) …
  6. Non-Propositional Knowledge (also Procedural Knowledge)

Final Thoughts:

I quote the dialogues from a Hollywood Movie: “The Edge”

Charles Morse: You know, I once read an interesting book. Which said, that, uh, most people lost in the wilds, they, they die of shame.

Stephen: What?

Charles Morse: Yeah, see, they die of shame. “What did I do wrong? How could I have gotten myself into this?” And so they sit there and they… die. Because they didn’t do the one thing that would save their lives.

Robert Green: And what is that, Charles?

Charles Morse: Thinking.
